Business Cards and Business Etiquette

by Jake Gourd

Complying with popular etiquettes that are prevalent in the region where one is working plays an important role in determining the success level of a person's commercial endeavours. People around the world follow certain etiquettes relating to big business issues and even issues as small as designing a business card.

Following customary decorum for the smallest details in business matters pave ways to success. An act of designing business cards according to prevalent protocol in the region leaves a lasting impression on the recipient of the card. A business card is the first introduction about a person himself and his business. Paying due attention on the presentation and design of the business card can never be over emphasized. Great art and excellent skill is required to design an eye-catching business card that would fetch great commercial opportunities.

Being familiar with business etiquette around the world makes it easy for a person to feel at home and be confident in his business dealings even on foreign land. The process starts from knowing and practising popular etiquette of business card design. Different parts of world have varying rules about visiting card etiquette. What may be highly desirable in one region might be least significant in other areas. But one needs to know about the popular convention before one could follow it.
Some general rules are commonly accepted worldwide. Business cards internationally are a means of representing one's business contact details. Though good business etiquette promotes business opportunities it is not the only deciding factor in a business relation. While a person is traveling to different parts of the world, having the opposite side of the business card translated to the native language of the region speaks volumes about his concern for business dealings in that area. Business cards could be exchanged at the beginning or at the end of any commercial meeting. When receiving a visiting card of the person one is expected to comment on it and also clarify any curiosity relating to it before putting the card away.

About different specific etiquettes prevalent in various parts of the world, UK has very relaxed rules for business cards. Though such cards are expected to be clean and presentable it is not compulsory to hand over business cards to every person you meet in the UK.

On the contrary, the Japanese think that business cards are very important, hence high quality cards are desirable here. Business cards should be accepted as courteously as one would receive a person. The card must contain the title of the person as great importance is given to status and hierarchy in Japan. It can be handed over by one hand but should always be received with two hands. In China having Chinese characters on the business card printed in gold is considered a good etiquette, as gold is a fortunate colour. Translating the card should be done in suitable Chinese language, Cantonese or Mandarin. Favourable points about your company, like if it is the largest or oldest must be specifically mentioned on the card. Also, while offering it, the card must be held by both hands. Scribbling on someone else's card is indeed a resentful act.

How To Start Your Own House Cleaning Business

By Rosana Hart

If you are thinking about starting your own house cleaning business, begin by evaluating your present circumstances. There are no right or wrong answers to these questions, but how you reply will affect what you do.

How much strength and stamina do you have? If you have lots, you can schedule more house cleaning jobs than someone who is more average in these ways.

What times of the week are you available? If you have a job, weekly meetings of any kind, or children that you want or need to be with at certain times, draw up a schedule of when you can be available for your new house cleaning business. Don't worry if there are only a small number of hours per week that you can work right now. That will be enough to get you started, and you will be glad of the income.

Do you want to work alone or with your partner or another friend? If you have someone compatible to work with, it can be more fun to work together. Also, it can make it easier if you or your co-worker gets sick or has a family emergency come up.

There are many ways to get customers, and none of them have to cost much. Here are several:

Go to a local copy shop and have some business cards made up. (Or make them yourself on your computer if you happen to know how. Office supply stores sell boxes of cardstock already perforated for business card size. You'd need a program capable of making business cards.) Give these cards out and post them in grocery stores, laundromats, etc.

With a computer and a word processing program (or a poster-making program, if you happen to have one), you can make a one-page or half-page flyer that says something like: "Don't Have Time to Do It All? Let Lou's House Cleaning Business Make Your House Shine! Special Introductory Half-Price Offer!" Be sure to include your name, phone number, even your email if you have one that you check every day. Indicating your prices will get you more calls. Don't set your prices too low, a common tendency for new business owners.

Tell everyone you know. Get on the phone and tell your friends. Place a small classified ad in a local shopper-type paper.

Okay, you will soon be getting customers. How will you actually do the house cleaning? What tools do you need to start with? There are probably as many different answers to this as there are people who have started a house cleaning business. Here are some ways to decide what you will do: Poke around on the internet. Ask your mother. Go to a library or bookstore and read.

You may need to get a business license. Check with the city, town, or county, where you live. This rarely costs much.

So there you have it. You can start your own house cleaning business. Go for it!

Rosana Hart tells you more about cleaning houses and offices for a living at her

How to Become an Event Planner

By Randy Wilson

Some of you may be wondering why learning How to Become a Party and Event Planner would be of interest to anyone. But, if have always dreamed of owning your own business and having the freedom that comes along with it, then you will definitely be interested in the event planning industry. Worldwide, the annual sales generated in the party, business, and event planning industry exceed $500 billion dollars (Source: International Special Events Society). Anyone entering into this industry has a wide range of options available to them and a huge market to tap into.

Estimated start up costs:

The start-up costs of becoming a party and event planner are relatively low but they will depend upon what services you intend offering. For most, the essential equipment includes: cell phone, laptop, business cards, Yellow Pages ad, and a good organizer of some sort. If you intend on offering catering as one of your event planning jobs, then clearly you will need a fully stocked kitchen but it is possible to outsource this function if you are coordinating the entire event. Bare bones start-up costs including a rough estimate for liability insurance would be less than $2500 if you did your homework and found some deals along the way.

Recommended experience, skills, and training:
Although college degrees are available for an event planner, most of the entrepreneurs within the industry do not have one. The majority of business owners started out in catering or business meeting planning and expanded into event planning. However, many owners have attended classes and attained certification. In addition to education, learning how to become a party and event planner includes experience in the following areas: marketing, accounting, management, and sales.

Marketing tips:

To obtain credibility as a competent event planner, it is imperative that you present a professional image at all times. All of your invoices, e-mails, business cards, and correspondence should bear your company logo and have continuity in visual presentation. You will probably see good results from joining networking groups and the local Chamber of Commerce. Word-of-mouth will be critical in the early phases while working with the public but you will need a completely professional image and marketing strategy to land the corporate accounts. Creating a website and filling it with a lot of useful content will land you a high ranking in the search engines and provide you with a powerful marketing tool to help promote your business. Be sure to include a link to this website in all of your e-mails and correspondence as a cheap but effective way of driving traffic to your site. Finally, use direct mail campaigns to local businesses that include some kind of promotion or discount for using your services.
Financing sources:
Learning how to become a party and event planner takes years of experience and a knack for organization but it does not require a lot of start-up capital. This is very fortunate because most banks are not going to loan you the money anyway if you are a brand new business. But, if you already own a catering business and are merely seeking to diversify your services, then your local bank is definitely an option. For everyone else, consider your friends and family if you do not already own a computer or have the cash.

Income Potential:

The income potential of learning for an event planner is only limited by your ability to sell yourself and your services to the clients. With over $500 billion dollars out there up for grabs, there is no reason why you cannot see six figures within the first three years. Like any business, however, you will only be successful if you deliver unparalleled service time and time again. But, if you love planning an event and seeing people happy, then becoming a party and event planner is for you and a way towards financial independence.

A Beginner's Guide To Making Money Online

By Anwar Ahmed Ally

Okay, you’re reading this because you want to make money online. You are fairly new to this, so you want some assistance. Well, you’re reading the right article. I will attempt to show you the basics on how to start an online money-making venture as quickly as possible.

The internet, through its sheer size, can be a bit overwhelming for a newcomer especially if there’s so many different types of lucrative opportunities out there. Follow these simple steps to get started.

STEP 1: Understand how money is made on the internet

In its simplest form, money can be made on the internet in roughly three ways:

By setting up your own web site

A web site can be an ideal way to make money online. However, it should be pointed out that you have to be prepared to put in a lot of hard work and have a great deal of patience. Your web site can make money by you offering a product or service on it or by earning advertising revenue or both. You can sell just about anything on a web site but it is recommended that you start with items that are instantly downloadable like software or ebooks. This spares you the agony and extra work of having to specially ship physical items around the world.

You will start by choosing a domain name, registering it and hosting your site. You need to design a site to suit your needs and what you have to sell. You can use the services of a web designer to do this for you or if you are the creative sort with reasonable computer knowledge and some good common sense, you could do this yourself –it’s not that difficult!

You will also need the ability to accept credit card payments from your customers. This has become reasonably easy to do these days by simply making use of a third party processor. Search for these on the search engines. You then need to market your web site either by way of paid ads or by using good Seo (search engine optimization) techniques to get your site ranked well in the search engines.

An alternate method of making money with a web site is by offering free, useful and quality content that appeals to users. Once you have built up a decent amount of regular visitors, you host Google Adsense ads. Google will pay you a commission on all their ads that are clicked on your site. You can also offer paid advertising to other web sites on your own by way of text or banner ads.

By doing some sort of online work for a company

There are numerous genuine companies out there that offer part time work to ordinary individuals. You can find research work, taking of surveys, data capturing, typing, etc. You can source these companies by searching for them on the search engines.

By participating in affiliate programs

Affiliate programs are popular with work-at-homers. An affiliate program is simply an advertising/marketing program run by company/web site in which they get members to refer visitors to their site. Members are paid per visitor or per sign-up or a combination of both. Most affiliate programs are free to join and the company will provide you with marketing/advertising aids in the form of text ads, sales copy, banners, etc to use. It is quite alright for you to participate in more that one affiliate program at the same time – this greatly increases your chance of success. Incidentally, affiliate activities create a great deal of internet traffic. To further increase your chance of success with affiliate programs, only join established companies that offer well respected and popular products or services.

STEP 2: Decide what you feel comfortable with

Now that you have a brief idea on the most popular money-making methods, you need to decide which one appeals to you. Once you have, feel free to do more research in that area and try to get as much information as possible. Play around with a few ideas until you are sure what you want to do.

STEP 3: Finding the right opportunity

Once you’ve decided on what you’d like to do, you now need to find the right opportunity. If you’ve decided to start your own web site, you need to determine what it’s going to be about. It’s best to base it upon something you have a fair knowledge of or are passionate about. If you’ve decided to take the affiliate route or to do online work for a company, make sure you are dealing with a reputable company that pays promptly. Use the search engines to find possible companies, then email these companies with any questions you have. Ask for references (people who are doing work for this company) and contact these people about their experiences.

Following these simple steps should put you on the right track very quickly. All the best!

Why Start an Online Business on eBay?

By Tara Kane

Why start an online business? The answer to that can be as varied as the number of people who ask themselves that very question. I would not consider myself much different form the average person. In asking that question, most of us are motivated by at the very least, three of the same things. Not to put too fine a point on it but they are: Money, Power and Greed. Oh, I can hear you saying now, " Well, I am motivated by recognition, or by the satisfaction of a job well done….., " and so on and so on.

What ever your reason or reasons, (my particular favorite happens to be greed), you should be aware of some facts about online businesses. It is now easier than ever to get yourself up and running in a reasonably short time. I am not going to sit here and tell you that in ten minutes you can become fabulously wealthy. This does not even happen over night. I am not going to sugar coat it and tell you that with no experience, no money, and no effort that this, or anything else for that matter will make you a dime.

I am here to tell you that with the resources and tools available on the Internet right now and the traffic generated every day by sites like eBay, you can be in business in a few hours. Will you make money? The answer is yes. Will you make money right away? The answer is quite possibly. Will you make enough money to satisfy your reason for being motivated to attempt this? That is where the work begins.

An "Old Guitar" Started It All
I will tell you my story so that you can get a feel for how these things progress. I had an old guitar and amplifier sitting around collecting dust. I had asked different friends if they wanted it but had no takers. I dusted it off and was about to load it up and head off to my local pawnshop, and then it hit me. I will have that garage sale that I have been putting off for months and months.

I mentioned it to my husband along with some tentative dates and he was willing to help if there were no scheduling conflicts. The operative phrase here is Scheduling Conflicts. Here is his list of conflicts; Root Canal, Re-primer his old jeep, and my particular favorite, Getting his Feet Scraped, (I have no idea what that means).

So obviously, the garage sale idea was out. I remembered that I bought a hard to find video game for my daughter on eBay. Bingo! I signed on, filled out the basic personal information, completed a step-by-step form for listing the old guitar and waited. I did not have to wait for long because after three days the guitar and amp sold for $200.00. Wow, I am gonna get rich on eBay.

I have to stop right here because I could go on forever. I am not here to advocate cleaning out the garage and your closets and hitting up everyone that you know for things to "eBay". I just wanted to illustrate how simple it is to get started. From my initial experience, greed kicked in and I decided to get serious about developing this into a full- blown business opportunity.

The Search Seemed To Go On Forever
I searched the net for resources, how to books and anything else that I could find. I spent huge amounts of time and wasted way too much money trying to find that one trick or tip that would turn my part time eBay business into a money machine.

I was fortunate enough to come across several complete guides to making money on eBay. Since this is not ment to promote any one product in particular, I will not be mentioning them by name. I will say that research literally transformed my little auction into a real business.
Fast forward to the present. I now have an eBay store, several websites and the thing continues to grow. I am on a journey, so to speak.

You can start small and stay small or you can take it farther and farther as opportunity and new ideas push you along. I started "eBusinesses and Books" as a resource for people like me. A place with resources and information on how to move forward when the time is right. I wanted to provide information and resources to save others from wasting a lot of time and way to much money. The Internet is a vast wasteland of, "Get Rich Quick" scams and con artists.

My Advice For What It's Worth
My advice is to start out small, test the waters, visit sites like "eBusinesses and Books" and others like it. Read all that you can about your particular field either in eBooks or on one of the many user forums around the net. With some research, persistence and some imagination you will be able to satisfy that thing that motivates you. Mine just happens to be greed.

Starting Your Own Landscape Service

by David Dunlap

If viewing and making landscape more beautiful is a passion for you, rather than a hobby, then you may want to consider starting your own landscape service. There are many people out there who want a beautiful lawn but don't have the time, energy, or the artistic ability to do it on their own. Just like people need interior designers, they also need exterior designers.
Having beautiful landscape grace their home is a priority for many because it beautifies the community along with raising property values. They want to hire a team that can get the job done right and make their yard look magnificent.

You may want to consider hiring a team to help you. This might not be all that important until you get a few regular clients, however, if your good you will need help before you know it. Having a great reputation and getting word of mouth referrals is the best way to expand your landscape business quickly.

There are other methods of advertising your landscape service. You can create flyers to post around your city, you can place an ad in your towns largest newspaper, you can hand out business cards to potential contacts, or you can try to merge with an already established local landscape service and build a clientele that way. If you have a large vehicle, or buy one specifically for your business, you will want to be sure to put an advertisement on the side of it. More people will learn about your business that way than any other.

Other things you will have to consider are: applying for a business license, whether you will run your company from home or from a small office, and getting a loan for a building, tools, and company transportation.

Remember, starting a business is hard work but, if landscape is truly your passion, then it will all be worth it in the end. Think about waking up everyday and being excited about going to work!

If you need help with any landscape ideas check out your local home improvement store or simply do some searching on the internet. Your sure to find some great ideas.

Can You Afford to be a Stay at Home Mom?

By Kendra Spencer

Deciding whether or not you can stay at home after you have a baby can be a big decision. Emotions play a big factor, especially after holding your precious newborn for the first time. It's hard to imagine leaving this tiny little thing with a stranger. On the other hand, you can gain a tremendous sense of accomplishment from your job that you couldn't feel after a day of changing diapers and wiping up spit up. No matter how you face it emotionally, if you are considering becoming a stay at home mom at all, you first need to figure out if you can financially afford to do it.

Make a Budget

The first step you should take is to record your expenses. For at least one month, better yet three, record everything you spend from latte’s to toilet paper to dinners out. Everything needs to be accounted for. There is no need to go on a budget diet yet, the goal is to find out how much you currently spend and on what items, so that if you find you do need to scale back, you can recognize where to do so.
There are a couple of ways you can go about recording all of your purchases. One is you can carry around a little notebook and make a note every time you buy something. The other way is to charge everything you purchase with your debit or credit card and use your monthly statement as your notebook of purchases. However, if you choose to charge everything to your credit card, you must promise yourself to pay off the full amount when your statement comes. Going into credit card debt is not going to help you achieve your goal of becoming a stay at home mom.
Once you have every cup of coffee, every grocery trip and every pair of new shoes accounted for, it's time to write it into a budget worksheet. Use a budget spreadsheet that will add up all of your expenses and subtract them from your income. When you have the form filled out, look at your bottom number. Hopefully this will be positive. Now go up and delete your income at the top. Don't forget to delete any expenses that occur from you working (dry cleaning bill, gas costs, lunches out, etc.). Remember also that your taxes will change once you drop down to one income and you may be able to change your withholdings to bring more monthly income in. Go to the IRS website and use their tax withholding calculator with only your husbands paycheck information to see how much you can change your withholdings. If your bottom number is still positive, then you are fortunate enough to be able to be a stay at home mom without much fiscal sacrifice. However if it's now dipped to a negative number, do not despair, it's time to look over your expenses and find ways to minimize them.

Saving on Your Expenses

Saving money doesn’t always have to be painful. Many women say that one of their biggest jobs as stay at home moms is to seek out bargains and make sure the family sticks to a budget. Consider this a lesson in what could be part of your new job description. Below are four big-ticket expenses that most households face. Let’s take a look at these and see if we can't save a couple hundred dollars right off the bat.

• Mortgage or Rent. This is often a couple’s largest monthly expense. The obvious way to reduce this cost is to move to a less expensive place to live, but that's not always the best option for your family. Try looking at refinancing. That can be a fantastic way to lower your monthly mortgage payment and may make it financially feasible for you to be able to become a stay at home mom. Plug some numbers onto an online refinancing company to see if this might make sense for you. If you rent, ask your landlord if there is anything you can do around the property that could reduce your monthly rent. Ask if you can help manage their other properties, take on the yardwork, do other chores or even sign on for a longer lease for a reduction in rent.

• Credit card, car payments and other 'bad' debt. These kinds of debts you want to try and get out of as soon as possible. Make is a goal to get out of credit card debt before you decide to become a stay at home mom. There are a number of credit cards that offer zero percent interest for a specific amount of time. Take advantage of these offers to reduce your monthly bill and use the amount you would have paid with your old card towards paying off the principle. Condense your monthly expenses and throw everything you can towards paying your credit card debt and car payment off so that your time for being a stay at home mom will be less stressful.

• Grocery Bill. You can easily reduce your grocery bill by planning a weekly menu and making a shopping list. Designate one night a week for sitting down with the grocery ads and your cookbooks. Come up with seven different meals that take advantage of the weeks grocery sales and write down the list of ingredients you will need. There are many great website services that will plan your weekly meals and e-mail you a weekly shopping list too. Make sure to clip coupons from the Sunday paper and from coupon websites. Also try the generic version of your favorite brand. Chances are you'll never notice the difference.

• Utilities. Take Dad's advise and start turning off the lights when you leave a room. Replace incandescent lights with florescent, get a hot water heater blanket for your hot water heater. There are a number of different ways you can reduce your energy bill. Don't hesitate to call your utilities and ask how you can save money on your monthly bill. You phone company can find a more efficient and cheaper plan for you and the garbage company can suggest a smaller garbage can size. Also ask yourself if you really need all of the gadgets you’ve become accustomed to: Do you really need that cell phone now that you won’t be commuting? Do you really need the fancy cable TV package or can you live without it for a few years?
Keep moving down each category on your budget worksheet and ask yourself how you could reduce costs. In this day and age most families have to make sacrifices for a parent to become a stay at home parent. Remember that it's temporary though. Children grow up before you know it and being a stay at home mom may just be more satisfying than any payroll job you could ever have.

Tips For Choosing An Office Desk

By Niall Roche

The desk you choose for your home office space is probably going to be the biggest piece of furniture in your entire home office. You may need your desk to perform a variety of tasks, so it is important that you choose it carefully. Most people don't put very much thought into the selection of their office desk. In fact, you may be tempted yourself to head out to the nearest store and purchase the first desk that you see. Before you do that put some thought into what you need from your new desk.

The first thing that you must do is evaluate your needs. Do you simply need a desk to hold your computer, or will you need a space to layout multiple pages and other items? Look at how much office equipment you have. Do you have a computer, printer, fax, phone, photocopier, scanner and more? Or perhaps you simply have a laptop and nothing more? This will be the first major deciding factor - how much desk space do you actually need?

It is also important to look at the space where you will be putting your desk. Is your office large, and able to accommodate a large desk? Or do you need to squeeze into a tiny area? It is a good idea to take measurements before you go out shopping, because this will save you a lot of time in the long run. There's nothing worse than buying a new piece of office furniture only to realize your office is too small for it to fit properly.

It can be very tempting to pick up a cheap desk from the local office supply store, however while these units are often inexpensive, they are usually made very cheaply and tend to break apart quickly. A design that works very well in a home office is a corner unit. These units tend to utilize every bit of space and even provide extra storage options which are useful when space is at a premium. These units can be expensive though, so you will need to weigh your options here carefully.

If you are looking for a large workspace, a good option is a large pine table. A large table will give you all of the workspace that you will need and you can use the back of the table by putting magazine racks or file folders along the back to increase organization space. Some people may not like the idea of working from a large table but whatever works best in your home office is what you should use.

The key to a successful home office is in the planning. It is never a benefit to have a nice looking desk that doesn't help you in your overall goal to be productive. Plan ahead by having a workspace that is big enough to hold all of the electronics that you need at hand as well as organizing papers to keep from cluttering up your workspace, it will be very inconvenient to try and upgrade your desk later on so start as you intend to continue.

How to Start a Home Based Business

By Timothy Rohrer

Starting a home based business can be very profitable if done correctly. The problem with most opportunity seekers today looking to start their own home based business is that they lack the knowledge and tools to help them succeed. It doesn’t matter what you’re selling online, once you master the process, it’s possible to sell any product or service. However it’s essential to have various tools available that will help grow a home based business.

When starting a home based business most people enter with the preconceived notion that they can simply sit back and watch the sales role in, when in fact it’s just not true. New business owners looking to work from home need to know three important things.

Find a product or opportunity that you feel confident about and one that fits your personal needs. With some many opportunities available online today, it’s difficult to pick out opportunities that are working for others. Most opportunities will allow you to sign up for a free conference call that will give a bit more insight on what their product is and what they are all about. Listen carefully and make sure to take notes, when the conference call is over, review your notes and ask yourself if this is the opportunity for you.

Joining the right program is only the beginning. In order to become a successful home business owner, you are going to go through changes and they may be uncomfortable. If you want to get rid of the 9 to 5 job making $25,000, $50, 0000 or $70,000 you need to change what you are currently doing. This means that your business will not grow until you make it happen. Joining an opportunity and failing to take action to show others your opportunity will get you nowhere.

Utilize advertising techniques. Some people become scared at this point claiming they do not know how to advertise a home based business. In fact there are free ways to promote your online opportunity and that’s exactly how I got started. Write informative articles such as this one and submit them to article directories where thousands of business seekers may view your article. Search, “free classified” ads online and start posting your opportunity. A few good ones are Craig’s list, backpage.com and US freed ads. Run a search on money making forums and start talking on those message boards. Every time you make a new post, you can have a link at the bottom of your post pointing back to your opportunity. You would be surprised how many views your home based business opportunity will receive.

Follow up with prospects. There is an old saying; it’s all in the follow up. Make a list of all the people that may have e-mailed you, responded to an ad or left you their phone number. Call them back and ask them if you can help. Helping people achieve their financial success is extremely effective. Be sincere and give them an honest opinion and share your personal experience. Building a business is about building relationships.

How to Start a Carpet Cleaning Company

By Randy Wilson

Opening a carpet cleaning business is a great way to earn money as your own boss. This is a relatively simple business to start, with low overhead, and little experience required. Start up costs can be minimal, if you shop around. Additionally, there is a steady market for quality work.

Most carpet cleaning equipment can be purchased for around two thousand dollars. If you already own a vehicle that will carry your equipment, then you are on your way. Researching shampoo machines and other equipment can be done easily on the Internet, as there are many web sites dedicated to carpet cleaning supplies.

Carpet cleaning equipment is getting revolutionized, much like other industries. Newer and more powerful shampooing machines are available online. There are also better shampoos and better drying systems that will leave the carpet cleaner longer. Customers will pay for quality, not for someone to have to come back two or three weeks later. You can even get machines that mount to a truck and are more powerful than the portable kind.

As with any small business, you will need to research licenses for your area for your carpet cleaning business. Check state and local governments to make sure you will not need permits or licenses. Some areas require that companies who do interior work be bonded as well. You will need to make sure you have all of your legal requirements met when you start your business.

Now you will need to choose which type of carpet cleaning services you are going to offer. Typically, households will not have their carpets cleaned more than three or four times a year, if that often. You will have to grow a large residential clientele list if this is the sole direction you wish to go.

Also there are the retail and commercial businesses that require cleaning more frequently. The equipment needed to clean both residential and commercial locations are not much different and most carpet cleaning services will routinely take care of both types of clients.

Advertising will be an expense worth spending some money on. Word of mouth can be counted on locally, but if you want to cover a wider area than your own neighborhood, you will need to invest in some advertising. Yellow pages business prints and local billboards will be a great place to start. Both of these options will let you be known to a great many people and will not be initially expensive.

Going to businesses with carpets and inquiring the manager about the carpet cleaning service he employs is also a good start. Remember not to undersell yourself. Always dress professionally on these occasions and conduct yourself in a professional manner. Most managers are continually looking for ways to decrease their expenses and if your services are less expensive than someone else's, you may indeed get the job.

While researching the web for supplies and equipment, do a little research on Internet advertising too. More and more people are looking local services and businesses up on the Internet and it is beneficial to be listed in local directories. There are also the yellow pages online, which is a useful resource to be listed in as well.

One thing about starting a carpet cleaning business that you will have to remember is that it is not a glamorous one. Anytime you clean something; you usually end up getting dirty. However, if you don't mind the dirt, you will see a career of fulfillment. Rooms will literally transform just by cleaning the carpet. That fact in it self is a selling point to gleam over.

Running a Wedding Planning Business

By Adam Gaines

When running a wedding business you get personally involved with the clients for whom you are planning the event.

Depending on the professionalism of others (wedding providers, hairstylist, photographer, hired personnel etc) you have to always be prepared that something may not go as you've planned and be able to come up quickly with a back up solution.

This is not an eight hours per day job. You have to be flexible and to meet and extend your clients' wishes. And being available for them when they need advice or just a reassurance (although is late in the evening or during the weekend) will do your business and your reputation a lot of good. And in this business a good reputation means more than expensive publicity in magazines or on the radio.

Survey the market and keep an eye on the competition. You can't cover the whole market, so think which target suits you best (professional women, young couples, etc). Make your fees competitive and from time to time offer discounts. Don't take more jobs that you can perform. It’s better to accomplish only one perfectly, than to do two lousy ones.

When running a wedding business you will get to know all sorts of people involved in the wedding business. Making a good impression will help you in time create a good network. You never know when you may need them.

You have to be very well organized and increase your financial skills not only for managing your own business, but that will help a lot also when the bride wants something, but the budget is too tight to meet her requirements.

It is not an easy business, but is one of the most rewarding types. To make your wedding business successful takes time, energy and devotion. But if you are willing to work hard and if you love what you’re doing, you will certainly succeed.

Work at Home Business Research Tips for Stay at Home Moms

By Sheri Purfield

Stay at home moms (like they are not already busy) I know seem to desire a work at home business. With kids to take to school and drive around for afternoon activities they seek these opportunities because of they offer the flexibility.

Even though stay at home moms do spend a lot of time with their children and do not have to worry about commuting to work, money may be very tight and it's a great way to make a living and contribute to the finances. If you are a stay at home mom looking for a work at home business opportunity, here are some tips.

Home business opportunities are abundant, but just like any other business, you have to do your research. Take the time to pick out a business opportunity that is legitimate and gives you the potential to make money. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Look out for the scams.

If you see those desirable ads to make hundreds of dollars a day without breaking a sweat, then I would tend to stay away from those. While some people do earn money at these "to good to be true" opportunities, the vast majority that buy into these things do not. Remember, all business opportunities are a risk so take the time to choose wisely.

The best way to tell if an opportunity is worth it is to look for companies that sell tangible products. If you like the product then you can research the product on the internet. The internet is great for getting information (whether good and bad) about a product. If your research is favorable, then the next step is to spend a little money to purchase the product and try it.

Once you decided that you like the product enough to sell it, then it is best to start researching the business side of selling the product. Usually, most opportunities that allow you to sell products are multi level network marketing businesses. These businesses create an environment that allows you to earn money selling the product and make commission off of the people that you sign up and teach to sell the product.

Being a stay at home mom usually means that you sacrificed your income potential in order to take care of your family. However, there are plenty of opportunities to supplement some of that income loss. The best thing you can do is not rush into anything and take the time to research it. Think of it this way, if you really capitalize on the opportunity you may not have to go back to work when your kids are in school full time.

Sheri Purfield is currently growing successful network marketing business. We sell skin care products that made with the best ingredients and provide results for the people that use them. This opportunity is the "perfect" stay at home mom business. Please visit http://www.independentskincareconsultant.com now for more information.
